pretty ribbon eh?
impressive and neat folding... Which gives the bouquet an overall 'slim, slender and neat' look (zheng xian and i brought similar pairs of scissors)
xin hui's bouquet juxtaposed to mine. i'm sure you can tell them apart
i'm not too good at arranging flowers that are eye candy head on, so i chose the most advantageous view (zheng xian still reading his "magic" book)
Oh, and the likely reason why i screwed up the arrangement of the flowers was because when i was in the process of doing so, Ms Ooi gave me my chemistry paper. [ZOMC WTS GGXXBBQ] x10^imba excessss. Yep, and an additonal reason why my bouquet is still nice is because flower arrangement is abstract art. Each design is unique and speaks a thousand words. Every orientation that the flowers are in reflects the creator's state of mind, mood, flavor, feeling...
what an effervescent mind at giving excuses for a not-so-perfect job...
GYX's arrangement of flowers was most captivating, but i don't have a picture of it.
twist 3 of these wires into how tropocollagen looks like
will give you bad blisters on the tip of your fingers. It's no easy job, but I did it especially slow. Ms Ooi, who started later than me did it faster, but it's not easy. It's not easy at all. Believe me.
Our next activity involved twisting 3 shiny wires twice before connecting them at the tip (by twisting them), leaving a gap in the middle. Then, we had to "fill" this gap by connecting the 2 wires with another wire. Urgh, either my description is horrible our you are hopelessly unimaginative, and I'm inclined to think it's the latter. Anyway, an effective way to visualize it is :
1) twisted mangle of 3 shiny wires at each end = phosphodiester backbone
2) connecting wires = nitrogeneous bases + hydrogen bonds
3) final product = replication bubble with hydrogen bonds between bases intact
(((:
but I hated the biology test so much that I had to rebel, I couldn't carry on making this stupid replication bubble, I'll go nuts, I won't spend my entire day getting my fingers sore just to get this bubble done
so..
i made a heart
................it's all crap henceforth..............
and a star which is like the sepals of my vase. the gaps the wires cris-crossing the heart makes are fragments/pieces of a heart, which means 'brokenness', 'failure'. Joining the broken pieces together signifies courage to pick up the 'broken pieces' and carry on with what you believe in. Flower making is artistic. It takes a lot of creativity to come up with a masterpiece. It takes courage to be able to say, "I want to create something new" and the revolutionist, although faced with much opposition and derision initially, will eventually become the center of attraction when people start to appreciate your work.
and replicate it
it signifies love and a passion for your work.
the heart is folded
like a mother's loving arms, protecting the beautiful and delicate child/artwork, and it being a majestic awe-inspiring masterpiece too
looking good even from behind
taking pride in the things we do, no matter how small they may be is important in having a sense of satisfaction when it is completed. An additional input of passion helps in transforming your artwork into your dream masterpiece.
